Château lin South West France Listed As Historical Monument

Close to important towns such as Bergerac, Marmande, Villeneuve-sur-Lot and Agen, this impressive chateau enjoys the proximity of a nearby international Bergerac airport ( +20km ) and daily connections from Paris-Orly to Agen Airport.

Only a few kilometers from the Dordogne River, located on the banks of the River Dropt in the Périgord region, the countryside is well known for its gently rolling hills amidst orchards and vineyards. Situated in the heart of the village which it overlooks, the castle is shielded by walls enclosing a wooded, 4-hectares park.

Arranged around an imposing courtyard and surrounded by French-style gardens, this harmonious architectural ensemble was built between the 12th and 17th centuries. The castle consists of three main buildings:

The Medieval castle
The oldest portion is the left wing with its 15th-century round tower and its magnificent door.

The entire left wing has been restored with utmost rigour and excellent artistic taste. Period methods and materials were used to renew the chimney pieces, the terracotta floors (now with an integrated underfloor heating system), the mullioned, stained-glass windows withinside shutters, the ironwork... associating the rigours of preservation and renovation with the modern comforts of electricity, heating, anti-burglary, smoke alarms and fire protection.

The Renaissance wing
The family crest is sculpted on the monumental door (listed as a Historical Monument).

The Dukes Bedroom (symmetrically corresponding to the Kings Chamber) with its well-preserved French ceiling, its mullioned, stained-glass windows, and its mantelpiece made of pink marble. The building contains further apartments at each end.

The ca.200 m2 guardroom with period tiles, French ceiling, mullioned, stained-glasswindows and an imposing mantelpiece (a true jewel of the Renaissance, listed as a Historical Monument)..

The Kings Bedroom (thus named ever since Henry IV of France and his wife Catherine de Médicis stayed here), with its French ceiling, its mullioned, stained-glass windows, and the beautiful chimneypiece a perfect example of the craftsmanship of the Fontainebleau School.

Inview of their rich decorations and elegant proportions, both of these fireplaces have been listed as Historical Monuments, justly regarded as twin marvels of the Renaissance and reckoned among the five most beautiful fireplace mantels in all of France.

Thecentral building, the dôme
The central building dates from the 17th and 18th centuries. Referred as such in the Castle archives, the dôme connects the15th-century quarters with the Renaissance castle.

This building contains:
On the ground floor, a very large, fully equipped kitchen with achimney, sanitary installations, etc.
